 Hi everyone! I’m currently in the middle of planning some upgrades for my home in Calgary, and one of the biggest tasks on my list is finally replacing the old windows. They’re over 20 years old, the seals are failing, and during winter I literally feel the cold air creeping in around the frames. On windy days, the curtains even move a little — that’s how bad it’s gotten. I know this is a pretty big investment, so I want to make sure I choose a company that’s actually reliable and not just good at sales.

I’ve spoken with a few installers so far, but every company gives me a different recommendation. Some insist only triple-pane is worth it, others say double-pane with the right coating is fine. Warranties vary, installation time varies, even their claims about energy savings vary. I’m honestly overwhelmed and don’t want to make a mistake that will haunt me for the next decade.

So I’m hoping someone here has already gone through this recently. How did you decide which company to trust? What were the red flags or green flags you noticed during the quote process? Did the installation crew actually do clean, careful work, or did you have to supervise them every minute? And most importantly — after replacing your windows, did you truly notice better warmth, less noise, lower heating bills, or was the improvement minimal?
